Brea, California - June 13, 2005 - Star*Key Software, creator of the estimating software program for web offset printing, the Presstimator, has released a major upgrade to its standalone estimating application. With version 2.0, the Presstimator's functionality has been expanded to include many features requested by both newspapers and commercial web offset printers.
A new Budgeted Hourly Rates (BHR) module is now available in version 2.0 to help estimators establish hourly rates based on their printshop's administrative and factory overhead costs. Accurate Budgeted Hourly Rates reflect a recovery of the true costs of doing business and companies can be assured of maintaining a profitable course once the exact sources of the organization's operational costs are calculated. Using the calculated Presstimator BHRs in the Shop Settings of the Presstimator will ensure that accurate standards are being applied for all generated estimates.
In addition to calculating an Add'l M's price, version 2.0 of the Presstimator now also handles Multiple Quantities within a single estimate. At any time within a quote, the user can enter up to five additional quantities in Quick View to instantly see the selling price for a variety of quantities. These multiple quantities can also be included on generated customer reports.

The Presstimator is a software application for web offset printing estimating. This print estimating software prompts the user for detailed job specs requested by the customer. Completely customizable costs and settings can be adjusted in Shop Settings to create sophisticated and reliable estimates. The optional Presstimator Budgeted Hourly Rates module calculates rates to be entered in the Presstimator to ensure overhead expenses are being covered in generated estimates. The Auditor feature helps the estimator avoid mistakes by checking for any missing information, which can help eliminate costly oversights. The Presstimator also incorporates a wide variety of reports that can be generated directly from the estimate, such as Customer Reports, Job Tickets and Materials reports. These reports can not only save time, but they can also help the user track costs and initiate standardized cost studies. Quotes are stored in a searchable database for fast retrieval and easy modifications.
